What is possibly concerning is his reference to being a big boy. It suggests he may have seen some of the other boys. But much more likely, everything he is doing is to be a big boy. I had a patient who wrapped himself in his father's ties to be a big boy. Try talking to him about being a big boy. I wouldn't focus on him being "awake", as you put it. He will probably tell you that he wants to have the big boy lunch or use the big boy toilet. Then relax and show him how to tie his own big boy shoes. If he describes the big boys doing something of concern, keep in mind that children that age are very imaginative, but pursue it further.
